UK Marine Strategy Framework Directive Consultation: last chance to have your say!

The consultation on a major component of the UK’s Marine Strategy closes on the 18 June 2012. The consultation is being undertaken jointly between Defra, the Northern Ireland Executive, the Scottish Government and the Welsh Government.

The consultation on a major component of the UK’s Marine Strategy closes on the 18 June 2012. The consultation is being undertaken jointly between Defra, the Northern Ireland Executive, the Scottish Government and the Welsh Government.

This consultation focuses on the initial stages of implementation and includes:
• draft initial assessment of the state of the UK’s seas
• proposals for UK characteristics of Good Environmental Status (GES)
• proposals for detailed UK targets and indicators of GES
• impact assessment setting out potential implications of the proposed GES targets and indicators

Later consultations will cover proposals for the UK programmes of measures for achieving GES and UK GES monitoring programmes.
